It is just a hunch.

But based on news from Oracle Open World, that the SRF will probably disappear, that Oracle took about 2 years to develop OpenUI, that Oracle has a plugin for Eclipse to use ADF to connect to Business Component, well if you add up all these little things then the probability may becomes reality.

Regarding the ADF part, Oracle could built Siebel Tools around this plugin, but I personally doubt that. I prefer my OpenUI hunch that may take a year or 2.

That might be a possibility. I myself worked on a POC to build Web based interface for tools and use SIF's to finally merge them in tools and it was successful.
But when you say "Oracle has something into its sleeve", do you have any more info on the same or is it just a hunch?

I would love to know more about it :)

I also do agree with you.

But I think that Oracle has something into its sleeve.

It would be possible to build a Siebel Tools interface with OpenUI. In
doing so they have a lot of work to complete but at the end they do not
have to port the actual application that runs only in Windows. So in the
final, implementing an RIA Siebel Tools apps will need much less effort.
Connect your ajax to the local bd and you are up and running.

for the Weird Behavior in Siebel 8.0: problem, the fix is the Siebel message output has to have the highest sequence number.

facing one issue due to max cursor size.. can some one suggest any better option.

I am looking for very specific issues faced using IE9 with Siebel 8.0.0.11.
I know that Siebel 8.0 is not compatible with IE9 however I don't see commanly faced issues like MVG/pick list popups issues ect and would like to know if any of you have faced any issues?

I have a requirement and i need help :

Requirement :

There are some Accounts which are associated to different different positions. now if i query in SIS Account List Applet ( in List Column) and selecting one position then it will showing all the Accounts which are non primarily associated to the that Position. i want only primary accounts to be shown which are associated to the position which i am searching for.

Please inform me for more information.

True gateway is not required when the Sibel and is up and running. It is only required when Siebel restart happens to read the configuration (Siebel server then stores a config locally untill next restart). Which is good and avoids single point of failure every time gateway goes down.

@lex I agree, this might not be the best example for how to of a business service from browser script. I will update the post with a note.

I am planning a post around this topic as I cannot express my thoughts fully through comments. I wish there was a way to have an interactive session.

Hi Neel,

may I express my concerns about using an applet button as the example for invoking a server side business service in Open UI...

It is my greatest fear that people start writing browser side script code to implement stuff that doesn't belong to the browser side.

Buttons and menu items still work the same way as ever - Open UI or not - , you have the choice of using the Named Method user property or Runtime Events or even Server Script to invoke the business service.

But please keep posting on Open UI. Thanks for educating people on the next generation UI for Siebel CRM.
